We want our Girls Inc. members to understand and appreciate the importance of volunteering and giving back to our community, so we give them many opportunities to do just that!
A few of the activities our girls participate in are: the Adopt-a-Grandparent Program with Hickory Creek, Thornton Terrace and the Waters of Clifty Falls; Old Courthouse Days Clean Up; making Red Cross Friendship Bags; Neighborhood block trash clean up; United Way parade walkers; and help Tri Kappa with the End of the Month Meal.
Each year we honor those members and volunteers who stand out as a result of their service and talents.
Each year Girls Inc. selects three leading women from the community to honor at the "She Know Where She's Going" luncheon.
The 2011 "She Knows Where She's Going" honorees were: Helen Kreeger, Joyce Imel, and Stephanie Hellmann. |

Downtown Center
School Year We offer three, Six-week class sessions for the girls: winter, spring, and fall. These are formally structured and require the girls to make a commitment to attend regularly. In between class sessions we plan a Daily Challenge Activity for each day of the week.
Girls' Night Out! This program helps meet the needs of our members in the 5th+ grades. One Friday evening each month is dedicated to this program. Funded by the Jefferson County Coalition Against Substance Abuse (CASA).
Summer The summer Session Takes place in June and July. During this time we have daily activities planned around a particular theme.
Early Birds We offer extended hours on days when school is not in session and during the summer months. Our "Early Bird" Program is available for a small fee during the summer months and school vacation days. It was established to provide more flexibility for our working parents who want their daughters and granddaughters to attend Girls Inc. programs.
Outreach Girls Inc. is not confined to a building! We take our programming out into the community with weekly sessions at Dupont Elementary School during the school year and a yearly special outreach at Deputy Elementary.

Transportation We provide daily transportation to our downtown center from Southwestern Elementary School for a small fee. Our van is generously sponsored by Craig Toyota.
Transportation to our center is also provided by the following schools: Madison Jr. High, Anderson Elementary, Lydia Middleton Elementary, Ryker's Ridge Elementary, E.O. Muncie Elementary, and Pope John Elementary. |
